"Outta Town Gig" by Max Elbo

Jazz memorial celebrating Max Elbo
 April 11th, 2017, Eureka Springs, AR

The Jazz second line began at 6 pm at Sweet Spring,
wound down behind the musicians to Basin Park,
& there was indeed dancing in the streets.

We loved Max & he loved this town, for more than 40 years.

As night fell & the full moon rose,
we closed the evening of music & celebration
with the crowd singing John Lennon's "Imagine"
& one last shout "Farewell, Max!"

Sandy Royce Martin of  Eureka Springs Arts Council
filmed the evening & distilled it into a concise video
that beautifully captured the spirit of the celebration.
She's thoughtfully posted it on Youtube.

Though we will forever miss Max, his keen sense of beauty
& extraordinary depth of wonder will be with us always.
